Sustainability Programs
At Maynilad, caring for people and the planet goes hand in hand. Through our sustainability programs, we safeguard vital water resources, reduce our environmental footprint, and create resilient systems that ensure reliable service for our customers. From protecting watersheds and recycling water to empowering communities and innovating for customer convenience, every effort reflects our commitment to building a sustainable future where both the environment and our communities can thrive.
Climate-Resilient Water System
To keep our water system resilient, Maynilad diversifies water sources, boosts energy efficiency with renewable energy, and invests in advanced treatment technologies. These improvements strengthen our infrastructure, helping us withstand climate change and natural disasters.
Energy Management and Renewables
We save energy and reduce emissions by using it more efficiently and tapping renewable options like solar power. From 2017 to 2022, these efforts cut 20.79 million kWh of grid electricity and lowered carbon emissions by 14,734 metric tons.
Waste Reduction and Recycling
Through programs like Green Badge, which upcycles old uniforms, and Timbayan, which repurposes plastic containers, we give waste new life. We also promote reuse, paperless billing, and digital platforms. Our biggest leap: recycling treated wastewater into potable water for communities.
Ensuring Continuity of Supply
Nine Maynilad sites hold ISO 220301:2019 certification, showing that our water provision system meets global standards. This ensures operational resiliency and reliable service during disasters, pandemics, or emergencies.
Plugging Water Losses
Protecting our Watersheds, Protecting the Future
Since 2007, our Plant for Life program has planted over one million trees and mangroves in Angat, Ipo, La Mesa, and along the coastlines of Manila Bay and Laguna Lake. This reduces carbon emissions by 25,000 tons yearly and supports the government’s Million Tree Challenge. Healthy watersheds mean a water-secure future for all.
Responsible Wastewater Management for Sustainable Communities
We operate 23 treatment facilities, 111 lift stations, and 625 kilometers of sewer lines to deliver vital sanitation services in the West Zone. All facilities comply with DENR standards. We also transform treated effluent into NEW WATER—potable water made from used water.
Community Development
Customer-centric Innovations
Our customers are growth partners. To make services faster and more convenient, we’ve introduced a QR Code facility for contactless requests and launched the My Water Bill online portal for easier bill monitoring.
